Under the watchful eye of the classic “Commandante Biggie” mural, the Bitcoin Brooklyn Meetup group held their inaugural meeting on the 18th of December 2013 at Lean Crust Gourmet Pizza in Brooklyn, NY.  Owned by Dan Lee, this is one of five places in the neighborhood that accepts Bitcoin for food and services of all types in the Fort Greene area.  As sponsor of the event, he allowed the attendees to use the space and even offered a 10% off deal on those who paid for food via Bitcoins.

Unfortunately due to the weather and the season, attendance was very light, reportedly maxing out at about 4 early on, but quickly spun  down to just one last holdout – Antonio Olmos, a local filmmaker and operator of Wake Up Despierta!

It is hoped that this fledgling Brooklyn Bitcoin community will start to rapidly grow after the holidays as this borough – particularly this area of town – seems to be the most Bitcoin-friendly section of New York City.

The famous "Comandante Biggie" mural looks on in sage approval of the first Brooklyn Bitcoin meeting held in Ft. Greene on 19 December 2013.
