Satoshi Square #5 Writeup
A year ago, Spelunk.in was inspired by Satoshi Square in NYC to start a meetup in LA where anyone could show up and trade coins. Completely decentralized, no company served to benefit from the meetup. We’ve had 5 meetups, each one bringing new people into the world of cryptocurrency.
The meetup on Wednesday was laid back, in a warm sunny evening by the fountain at Grand Park. Our favorite mining vendor, Sebuh, showed up and handed out free Antminer T-shirts. Meltdown Comics gave us copies of a Catwoman comic that had the first appearance of Bitcoin in a comic, and we used those in giveaways. Twitter shibe @jmgranola was trading fresh farm eggs for cryptocurrency. This was the first time we’ve had vendors at Satoshi Square, giving people a way to use their freshly acquired cryptocurrencies.
We tracked the trades on the board, welcoming any altcoins to the event. (Some dogecoin got traded). About 25 people showed up through the night. Expresscoin also made an appearance. It was a successful night, with lots of fun planning for future events.
